Truckee’s Kindred Art and Folk Institute offering summer internship

Kindred Art and Folk Institute recognizes on-the-job experience can play an important role in advancing self confidence, careers of arts, nonprofit, and cultural leaders. Likewise, the organization benefits from the creativity and curiosity of students and professionals who get involved with the community.

Kindred’s internship program takes great care to offer opportunities that make the most of those mutual goals.

When individuals are given the opportunity to express themselves in a safe environment where all thoughts are embraced, conceptual thoughts are allowed to come full circle, giving individuals and all who surround them another prospective on themselves and the community.

“This is a vital piece of the puzzle for our society as a whole and to embrace this notion as a community is really what Kindred is all about,” said Nicole Ashton Martin, creative director at Kindred Art and Folk Institute.

Kindred offers a wide variety of sessions for all ages using multiple mediums so students are able to experience many different avenues and create to new ones together.

Kindred is now accepting applications for summer internships. Interns will be involved with ongoing programs, special events and community outreach. Applicants should be passionate, excel in the arts and be eager to be a part of the Kindred community. Interns will be asked to dedicate two days a week on a regular schedule to the organization and the community it serves. To apply submit a short essay about community and why you believe you would be a positive role-model and mentor.

You may also submit a visual piece to express yourself. Submit to Nicole Ashton Martin via email at nmartin@kindredtruckee.org. Deadline is May 23 at 5 p.m.
