INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Maggi Davis, founder of Bee Inclined Quilters of Incline Village, recently had the pleasure of delivering five youth quilts to the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation in Reno.
By chance, she met Lauren Scott, a delightful 16-year-old who has undifferentiated soft sarcoma, a very rare cancer. Lauren was first diagnosed in 2009 and is currently in her second relapse.
Maggi and Lauren chatted about the quilts and Lauren’s interest and past experience with making fleece blankets, and then Lauren selected one of the quilts for her own.
Bee Inclined Quilters have donated many quilts to many different organizations over the past seven years. This year, the group selected Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation and Casa de Vida as the organizations to receive quilts.
Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation is the only organization in Northern Nevada to focus on helping children and their families through difficult times. Learn more at www.nvchildrenscancer.org.
Casa de Vida is devoted to housing/educating young unwed mothers. Learn more at www.casadevidareno.org.
