Obituary: William Douglas Rogers

October 29, 1989 – January 18, 2014

William Douglas Rogers (Will Rogers) died in a tragic auto accident on January 18, 2014. He was born at Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae, CA. Will attended grammar school in Kentfield, CA and attended North Tahoe High in Tahoe City, CA. His college years at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, were the highlight of his life. He joined the fraternity Alpha Gamma Rho where he met many of his closest friends. He graduated with a degree in Viticulture and soon thereafter started his dream job at Maverick Farming in Santa Maria, CA.

Will was an avid outdoorsman – skiing, hunting and especially sailing. Sailing is where Will felt at peace and was one with the water. It brought him immense joy.

He was very much in love with his girlfriend Kylin Costa and adored Tonka, his sidekick black lab. Kylin and Tonka will be sharing life together – as Will would wish it to be.

Will is survived by his loving parents Nina and Hamilton Rogers and his brother Shawn Berger. He is also survived by his grandmother Barbara Curley Tufts, maternal aunts Cammy Larsen and Marjory Armbrust and cousin Aidan Powers; his paternal aunts Eleanor Crebbs and Susanna Kelham and cousins Ron Nicholson, Hamilton Nicholson, Cameron Crebbs, Charlie Crebbs and Alice Tumilty.

His “never ending smile” and infectious laugh will be greatly missed by all. Happy Trails, Plowboy!

A Celebration of Will’s Life will be held in February 8, 2014, at Sunnyside Resort, Tahoe City, California.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be sent to: California Polytechnic State University, College of Agriculture, San Luis Obispo, California.
