Obituary: Martin Hugh McWilliams

Martin was loved by all who knew him. While it may have seemed sudden, we couldn’t have hoped for him to carry a more enlightened, fearless, and embracing state of mind as he left his corporeal state on his journey into the unknown.

Surrounded by the light and warmth of his family and closest friends, he undertook that journey on April 2nd, 2014.

Born in San Jose, California on August 2nd 1947. He lived a short time in Apple Valley California before he was drafted into the Army at the age of 19. He served from 1967-1969, which he spent stationed in Korea.

Upon his return he settled on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe where he worked for a time alongside his family at their Hardware store in Kings Beach, Calif. From there he worked at Parks Chevron in Incline Village for over 20 years. He was well known for his time spent at Raley’s of Incline Village from where he had recently retired after 20 yrs of service.

Marty was preceded in death by his father, Hugh McWilliams. He is survived by his mother Margaret McWilliams of King’s Beach, Calif. His sisters Lynn, Kitty, and his brother Chuck, all of Reno, Nev. He leaves behind Nieces, Grand Nieces and Nephews, his cousin Kim Moore, and his step children Kaytie and Nicholas Brandon.

An avid gun enthusiast and collector, He requested that a service not be held. In respecting his wishes, and to help with our own personal grievances, a 21 gun salute and wake will be held by his family and close friends in the middle of July. It is verbally impossible to express the emotions which arise when such an important piece of your life has physically departed.

We are all very proud of him in overcoming the obstacles he faced in his youth to become the incredible person which he was. He was always there for the people he loved, and he always will be. We love you infinitely, Marty.
