Obituary: Peter Wightman Harlow

Aug. 13, 1952 - June 12, 2013

Peter Harlow, a former Tahoe City resident, died of pancreatic cancer in Moraga, CA at age 60. The son of Mason and Hazel Harlow, Pete grew up in New Canaan, CT, and earned a degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University. Always on the lookout for a good time, Pete moved to North Tahoe after college and enjoyed the thrill of the Sierra’s challenging ski runs, working at various ski areas, including Slide Mountain and Northstar-at-Tahoe.

Pete and his wife Dianne met in 1981 at the Sierra Mt. Race triathlon, and had three children: Jennifer, Michael, and Stephen. The family took full advantage of all that the North Lake Tahoe area had to offer, including skiing, hiking, golfing and mountain biking.

After moving to Moraga, CA in 2003, Pete spent his free time playing golf and working out at the gym, along with taking an interest in local politics. He is the founder of Pacific Software Services and developed custom computer software for over 30 years.

Pete will best be remembered for his fun sense of humor and love of family. He loved chocolate chip cookies, the Red Sox, and Rock ‘n Roll music.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife and children, along with his sister Heidi Harlow of Oak Park, IL, and his brother Sandy Harlow of Timonium, MD.

A memorial gathering will be held for friends and family on July 13th, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Soda Center at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA.
