Hannah Noelle Spanier, beloved sister, daughter, and friend, passed away after thirteen years of charmed life on October 26, 2013.
Hannah was a world traveler, a drummer, a voracious reader of books, a rock climber, a straight-A student, and an aspiring sushi chef. To the students at North Tahoe Middle School, she was student body president, her voice ringing through the halls every morning for class announcements. She read all seven Harry Potter books straight through in two weeks.
She collected the autographs of every single Disney princess at Disneyland, and almost got knocked on her bum the first time she fired a shotgun. She helped her grandparents with their electronics, traded book recommendations with her aunt, and let her 4-year-old cousin boss her around for hours. In a recent pre-driving lesson out in the wilderness, she was so focused on working the clutch and the gas pedal properly that she forgot to steer, and her father had to grab the wheel right before she crashed his Jeep into a tree.
She was one of the lucky ones, enfolded in love every single day of her life. And she returned that love a thousand-fold in the light and hope that shone through her, brightening the lives of everyone she encountered.
Hannah is survived by her brother Hunter, her parents Brian and Amy Spanier, and a loving extended family.
A celebration of Hannah Day will take place on Sunday, November 3rd at 2:00pm at the North Tahoe Event Center. All those who know and love the Spanier family are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Hannah’s name to the Tahoe Vista Animal Shelter (Placer County Animal Services, 11251 B Avenue, Auburn, CA 95603.
