North Tahoe volleyball | Lakers split league matches at home

The North Tahoe volleyball team split its last two league matches at home, losing 3-1 against White Pine on Friday and beating West Wendover 3-0 on Saturday.

The Lakers fell 17-25, 15-25, 27-25, 14-25 to visiting White Pine (7-5).

Senior Taylor Briggs and sophomore sister Jordan Briggs finished with six kills and two blocks apiece, while Rikki Partain and Sherene Clegg posted four kills apiece, and Baylee Goodwin and Tilley Gibeaut each had two.

Gibeaut added three service aces and Taylor Briggs had two. Partain and Jordan Briggs each finished with seven digs, Taylor Briggs and Gibeaut each had six digs, and Nalia Norris had five.

Saturday’s match was more favorable for the hosts. North Tahoe got past West Wendover (0-10) in straight sets, 25-21, 25-16, 27-25.

North Tahoe amassed 50 kills in the match, with Taylor Briggs leading the way with 16, while Jordan Briggs smashed 12 kills and Goodwin 11 kills. Clegg added four kills, Partain three and Gibeaut and Norris two apiece.

Goodwin posted three aces while Norris had two aces and 12 digs and Jordan Briggs had 13 digs.

The Lakers, whose match at Silver Stage on Tuesday ended too late for publication, are now 3-8 in Northern Division III play.
