Truckee golf | Scibird sixth in state championship

Truckee freshman golfer Sienna Scibird capped a successful season with a sixth-place finish in the Division I-A state championship tournament in Mesquite on Tuesday.

Scibird fired an 83 on the first day of the tournament and an 87 on the second day for a 170. She entered Day 2 in fourth place among the 43-player field.

Julia Becker of Faith Lutheran claimed the individual state title with a 151 (76-75). Brittany Evans of Fernley was second (160, 77-83) and Kaily Beatty of Elko third (164, 80-84).

Faith Lutheran won the team state championship by 58 stokes over runner-up Clark, 676 to 734. Lowry was third at 765, followed by Elko (794), Fernley (821) and SECTA (888). Scibird was Truckee’s only golfer.
