Man's body found at Lake Tahoe boat ramp

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — A body discovered near the Sand Harbor boat ramp Friday morning has been identified, officials said.

Incline Village resident Carl Strickland, 40, was spotted by a paddleboarding class under water near the docks, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.

The class instructor described him as white male tangled in some ropes affixed to a boat.

Sheriff deputies responded to the scene at about 10:50 a.m., with Strickland pronounced dead by emergency medical responders. The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District also responded.

An investigation into the cause of death is still under way, but foul play is not suspected.

Sheriff’s office detectives investigating the death have found evidence that indicates Strickland had been working on the boat and appears to have entered the water on his own volition.

The exact cause of death will be determined by the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at 775-328-3320.

This comes after a 42-year-old Southern California man drowned and a 19-year-old man nearly drowned at the state park in July.
