Classic car shows roar back into Heavenly Village

Cars, trucks and motorcycles of all kinds will be on display at Heavenly Village every Friday through October.

“I love this car show, we all enjoy coming here,” said South Shore resident Kent Robinson during a previous car show where his 1962 Corvette was on display.

The car shows take place from 5-8 p.m. and are sponsored by Good Sam Safe Ride, which promotes safe driving through its series of events.

“The International Good Samaritans Safe Ride Club is a non-profit drinking and driving alternative service which promotes the use of designated drivers and seat belts as the best defense against the dangers of a drunk driver wherever alcohol is sold,” according to the group’s website. “Each year IGS volunteers attend over 30 major car and motorcycle shows in Nevada and California and pass out free designated driver pins and buttons and ‘Buckle up that seat belt’ stickers. IGS also asks people to please not drink and drive.”

The group also offers a chance to win a car or motorcycle each year. This year the organization is raffling off a 1955 Pontiac Wagon and a 1952 Canned Ham Camping Trailer. Raffle tickets to win the car and trailer are sold for $5 at the summer’s car shows. The raffle will be held on Oct. 12. Participants do not need to be present to win.
