The American Century Championship celebrates 25 years of celebrity golf this month.
This year’s festivities begin at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course Tuesday with the Lake Tahoe Celebrity-Amateur, which runs through Thursday. The championship rounds of the tournament take place Friday through Sunday, July 18-20.
LPGA legend Annika Sorenstam, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Miami Heat All-Star Ray Allen, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, comedian Larry the Cable Guy, Olympic skier and gold medalist Bode Miller and NFL Hall of Famers Steve Young and Jerry Rice are among the more than 80 celebrities expected to take part in the tournament this year, according to a press release for the event. The tournament offers a $600,000 prize purse, including $125,000 to the winner.
Spectator tickets for July 15-17 are $15 per day. Championship rounds are $25 per day to watch. A pass good for admission all six days is $60. Children 10 and under are free when accompanied with a paid adult. Discounted tickets, which take $3 off the daily rate, are available from Raley’s, Bel Air or Nob Hill Foods. National television coverage of the tournament is planned for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Television coverage on NBC will take place from 12-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
