Boys and Girls Club announce programs

The Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe announced its Fall Program that offers core after school services of homework support, study time and activities.

New programs were also announced aimed to suit all ages.

Middle and high School students can choose from programs such as Project Runway, a design and fashion program; Debate Club; Junior Crossfit; Masterchef, teaching skills in cooking and nutrition, or simply have fun with friends in a specialized teen room where every Friday there is a movie night.

For elementary school ages, there are Lego programs, drama classes, arts and crafts, an indoor hockey league, cooking and story time.

Director of Operations and Programming, Kelly Garrity said, “our goal is to provide fun and exciting activities for our members that provide them with education and life skills without making it feel like work. Not only do we want to be a safe and friendly place to be after school but we want to be a place where our members are excited to come.”

Copies of the new Fall Program can be picked up at 1100 Lyons Avenue and are also available at www.bgclt.org.

Membership to the club costs $100 for the school year and payment plans are available.

Founded in 1991, the Club offers summer programming at its Al Tahoe site and after school programs at Al Tahoe and Bijou.

Programs include literacy, homework support, computer skills, ice skating, healthy living, swimming and field trips.
