Village People bring decades of disco to MontBleu

The Village People will bring hits such as “YMCA,” “Macho Man” and “In the Navy” to MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa on Aug. 3.

With more than three decades of party music, The Village People will perform all of their hits, plus disco cover classics packaged and arranged to bring fans to their feet, according to a statement from promoters. Clad in every day working-man garb, The Village People have been a cultural phenomenon since hitting the disco scene in 1977. The Village People are Eric Anzalone, Alex Briley, Felipe Rose, David Hodo, Ray Simpson and Jeff Olson.

Known for the costumes and producing songs to celebrate freedom and acceptance, the group’s music is a standard played at pro football, basketball and baseball games and in movies and television. They have sold more than 100 million records worldwide and made countless appearances on television. Now in their 36th year, The Village People are known as the “Kings of Disco” and have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

When they haven’t been touring, the six-member group is recording. Their latest creation, called “Back to the Dance Floor,” was produced and co-written by KC of KC and the Sunshine Band, who appeared at MontBleu in earlier this month.
