The 24th annual Lake in the Sky Air Show at Lake Tahoe Airport in South Lake Tahoe is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 24.
Event’ surrounding this year’s air show will actually span three days, starting with a pre-flight party beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Flight Deck restaurant at Lake Tahoe Airport. Triple Ace “Bud” Anderson will be a special guest speaker along with two Vietnam War fighter pilots, according to a statement from the city.
The air show will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The show includes aerobatic performances by pilots including Bill Cornick, Jon Melby and Spencer Suderman.
“Additionally, there will be sky divers, kids’ activities, War Birds, classic car show, police dog K9 demonstration, bomb robot, helicopters, chili cook off, food court, beer and wine garden, fire trucks, fly-bys, tons of aerial performers, and much more,” according to the statement.
Free Young Eagles flights for kids interested in aviation are scheduled for Sunday with sign ups for the flights on Saturday.
Gates open to the public at 8 a.m. Saturday with a pancake breakfast available until 9:30 a.m. Aerial performances begin with skydiving at 9:30 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
