Steamers hosts dodgeball battle

Teams of six will fight for dodgeball supremacy at Steamers Bar & Grill next week at Sierra-at-Tahoe’s Snowball Fight.

The second annual event is part of Sierra’s effort to get people fired up for the upcoming ski season, according to a press release from the resort.

“The Sierra Snowball Fight will use the classic childhood game, dodgeball, to reconnect powder hounds and celebrate the upcoming winter before the lifts start spinning,” according to the release. “This is an all ages event and everyone is welcome so come cheer on the competitors and compete in a variety of quirky games; everyone has a chance to walk away with some swag.”

Participants are encouraged to don costumes for the tournament. The team grand prize is valued at more than $1,000. A Sierra passholder appreciation hour starts at 6 p.m., with the general public welcomed at 7 p.m., according to a flier for the event.

“Sierra Resort fans and season passholders will be able dodge, dive, dip, duck and dodge while helping support the local community,” according to the release. “Sierra Resort is happy to continue their longstanding commitment to the community and share their excitement for the upcoming 2013-14 season.”

DJ Mo’funk and acoustic rockers Ike & Martin will provide live music at the event.

Team space for the tournament is limited. People can sign up a team for the tournament by calling 530-543-3139.
