Acoustic duo Ike & Martin make Lake Tahoe their stage every Wednesday this winter, performing on the M.S. Dixie II as part of the paddle-wheeler’s Pints & Paddles events.
The shows take place every Wednesday through the winter and leave from Zephyr Cover Resort, according to a post on Tahoe South’s website, www.tahoesouth.com
Ike & Martin are regular performers at both shores of Lake Tahoe. Readers of the Tahoe Daily Tribune voted the pair as the best local band in 2013.
“Ike Marr and Martin Shears have been making music together for around 17 years,” according to their Facebook biography. “From their first musical meeting in Phoenix their chemistry was undeniable. Sharing a passion for great songwriting, harmony vocals, humor, and Bourbon, they forged a friendship and musical partnership that has wowed audiences all over the world.
“Ike Marr grew up a true Southern country boy from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Classically trained on viola, Ike naturally embraced mandolin as well as guitar, bass, banjo etc. His musical influences include roots, americana, and bluegrass. Martin Shears is a transplanted Englishman who grew up in London surrounded by folk musicians. He studied piano at an early age then gravitated to guitar learning every Beatles song he could; then the Who, then Pink Floyd etc. When you add all this up, you get a repertoire of 700 plus songs any of which Ike & Martin can recall instantaneously.”
