Breezy 1970s pop will fill Harrah’s Lake Tahoe this weekend when Pablo Cruise plays the casino’s South Shore Room.
“Pop, rock, and blue-eyed soul band Pablo Cruise got together in 1973 and released eight studio albums over the next decade, including the hit albums ‘A Place in the Sun’ and ‘Worlds Away,’” according to the casino’s website. “Their singles ‘Love Will Find A Way,’ ‘Cool Love,’ ‘I Want You Tonight’ and ‘Whatcha Gonna Do?’ reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“Following a hiatus that lasted over 20 years, Pablo Cruise reunited in 2004 with the original lineup – Jenkins, Lerios, Price and Bud Cockrell. The current lineup of David Jenkins (guitar and vocals), Cory Lerios (keyboards and vocals), Steve Price (drums) and Larry Antonino (bass and vocals) released the first Pablo Cruise live album, ‘It’s Good to Be Live,’ in 2011.”
Although the lineup has changed, there still isn’t a Pablo in Pablo Cruise.
“When asked what Pablo Cruise meant, the well-rehearsed answer went something like this, ‘Pablo represents an honest, real, down to earth individual; and Cruise, depicts his fun loving, easy going attitude towards life,’ according to the band’s website. “In essence that’s what Pablo Cruise’s music is all about. Honest, real, down to earth vocals, accompanied by fun yet elegant, infectious grooves. To hear Pablo Cruise on record is one thing, but to experience the band live is an exhilarating event.”
