Lake Tahoe Community College’s Art Department has announced the upcoming Annual Student Art Exhibition, showcasing up-and-coming South Lake Tahoe artists who have enrolled in art classes during the last academic year. The opening reception will be held Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with music, refreshments, and an awards ceremony held at 3:30 p.m in the Main Building on campus.
To reward winning artworks and the artists behind them, LTCC’s Art Department will be giving away cash prizes donated by many local individuals and businesses to students chosen for their exceptional merit. Beginning Sunday through June 14, the exhibition will be on display to the public throughout the LTCC campus during all open college hours.
Megan Berner, a University of Reno Art Department-Photography faculty member, as well as a photography, video and installation artist, is the juror for the exhibition. She is jurying 17 different art categories, which reflect the diverse art courses offered at the college.
LTCC says anyone coming to campus to enjoy the art should also see the current exhibition on display in the Haldan Gallery in the Library building featuring artworks by Art Department faculty and staff. That exhibition will be on display until June 20. The Haldan Gallery is open Tuesdays through Thursdays 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., and Fridays 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
All exhibitions at LTCC are free and open to the public.
