Five injured in car accident down Kingsbury Grade Friday; city council candidate and wife confirmed as two of injured

Five people were reported injured in a wreck on Kingsbury Grade on Friday afternoon.

UPDATE, Sunday, Sept. 25 — Jason Collin, city council candidate, posted this message to Facebook Saturday: “Thank you all for the amazing support, prayers and kindness. I am doing pretty well considering everything that’s happened. I had surgery to straighten out my right leg today. And I will have surgery Monday to straighten out my left ankle.”

UPDATE, Saturday, Sept. 24, 9 p.m. — According to Epic Tahoe Adventures, “Jason sustained serious injuries in the crash yesterday resulting in both legs being broken and shattered in various places from the knee down. He has had 2 successful surgeries so far and has one more scheduled for Monday. He is in excellent spirits and is recovering well and will hopefully be released next week. His wife Natalie also broke a finger in the accident but was treated and released yesterday, and is by Jason’s side. The Collin family appreciates the outpouring of support and love the community has shown.”

UPDATE, Saturday, Sept. 24, noon — Jason Collin, a South Lake Tahoe city council candidate, was involved in Friday’s Kingsbury Grade crash, along with his wife Natalie.



Heather M. Satin, of Satin Legal, Inc., confirmed the information with Tahoe Daily Tribune Saturday morning. Satin represents Epic Tahoe Adventures, of which Jason Collin is a part; Collin also works as Barton Health’s Director of Home Health and Hospice.

Satin noted by email that when more information is available, the community will be updated through Epic Tahoe Adventure’s social media channels.

Injuries, to both parties along with others in the crash, remain unknown to Tahoe Daily Tribune at the time of this writing.

The driver of a sport utility vehicle involved in a collision on Kingsbury Grade died from her injuries, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported.

Kingsbury Grade remained closed for more than six hours, after a Nissan Pathfinder and a motorhome collided a mile and a half down the Carson Valley side.

The head-on collision was reported at 1:21 p.m.

A passenger in the Pathfinder and three other people were transported with injuries by helicopter and ground ambulance.

At least two people had to be cut from the wreckage, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

East Fork and Tahoe Douglas firefighters responded to the wreck, in addition to deputies and Nevada Highway Patrol troopers.

Three helicopters responded to carry the most seriously injured for treatment.

Douglas County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Bernadette Smith said three patients were transported by air ambulance, and two patients by ground ambulance.

Nevada Highway Patrol Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the collision.

MINDEN, Nev. – A car accident with multiple injured parties has shut down through traffic to Kingsbury Grade. The accident occurred around 2:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23.

The accident took place 1.5 miles down Kingsbury Grade from Tramway, and was responded to by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Highway Patrol, Tahoe Douglas and East Fork Fire.

Three patients were transported by air ambulance, and two patients by ground ambulance. Nevada Highway Patrol Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the accident.
