Foster homes needed in South Lake Tahoe

Foster Family & Adoption Services will host a new foster and adoptive parent training in April.

Every year, hundreds of children from the Tahoe area are removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect, according to a press release. There are currently eight families to take care of these children in the area. Most children are sent to homes two to four hours away due to the lack of foster families in Tahoe.

Foster Family & Adoption Services is a nonprofit that provides parents with free orientation, ongoing support and training, financial compensation and 24-hour emergency support. Foster children have full medical and dental insurance, mental health and education services.

For information about fostering or adopting or to sign up for the training, contact Megan Clampa at 530-544-2111 or meganc@fosterfamilyservice.org.
