Authors Dick and Wanda Canton will discuss their book May 9 at the Douglas County Historical Society May lecture.
The Cantons, along with like-minded railroad fans, formed the “Friends of the Bodie Railway” in the late 1990s. They live in the Carson Valley and have a cabin near Mammoth Lakes, according to a press release. They have worked to keep the history of the railroad alive, in part through their book, “Bodie Railway & Lumber Co., Railroad in the Sky, 1881-1917.”
The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. Admission costs $3 for nonmembers and is free to members of the Douglas County Historical Society. The book will be available for purchase.
