Commission on Aging seeks new member

The Commission on Aging is seeking another member.

There is currently one vacancy on the commission, which serves in an advisory role in the provision of services to El Dorado County seniors. It acts in an advisory capacity to both the Area Agency on Aging and the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors on matters concerning senior residents, according to a press release. The commission focuses its efforts on issues including development of community centers in strategic areas of the county to ensure provision of accessible services to all senior residents; promotion of services that enable seniors to remain in their homes for as long as possible; and identification and prevention of elder abuse.

The commission strives to attain a balanced geographic representation, the release stated. Applicants are being sought from all areas of the county, including South Lake Tahoe. Preference will be given to applicants 60 years old and older.

The deadline to submit an application is May 10. For more information or to obtain a membership application, contact Janice Haney at 530-642-7276.
