Douglas County Historical Society is seeking nominations for its 2013 DCHS Preservation Recognition Award.
May is Historic Preservation month and DCHS is looking for nominations of individuals and organizations that have renovated or preserved a Douglas County historic building, whose contributions demonstrate outstanding excellence in historic preservation.
Nominations must include a concise description of the project, program, organization or individual that is being nominated. If the nominated project involves a site, building or district, explain its historical significance, challenges overcome, unique strategies and activities carried out and the impact this project has on the community.
They must also include the people involved and how the project could potentially be a model for other communities.
Those who make a nomination are also asked to describe the individual or organization’s accomplishments and contributions in the area of historic preservation.
If the project is a building, include the original date of construction.
If possible, include before and after pictures.
DCHS will select a jury to review the nominations and select the recipient of then 2013 Historic Preservation Recognition Award of Excellence.
