Hotel sign up for grabs

The pole sign from the former Royal Valhalla motor lodge is up for grabs.

The sign has sat at the corner of Stateline Avenue and Lakeshore Boulevard since the ‘70s. It will soon be removed as part of the construction process of The Landing Resort & Spa, according to Jon Sween, the director of sales and marketing for The Landing Resort & Spa.

Removal of the old sign will support the city’s pole sign directive and a lower-profile option will be installed in its place. Knowing that there may be locals or longtime Tahoe visitors with interest in the sign, the hotel’s owners are giving the sign away. Inquiries should be directed to

The Landing Resort & Spa, a full-service, five-star boutique hotel, is scheduled to open in November.
