The Beacon Bar & Grill has hired Steven “T” Branch as its new chef.
A central California coast kid originally, Branch moved to Tahoe to snowboard and never left. He found work in the resort area’s restaurants and learned from some of Tahoe’s best chefs, including a stint with central coast chef Pandee Pearson, according to a press release. While working with Pearson, Branch was part of the team to win a bronze at the Squaw Creek Food and Wine Festival. Branch rounded out his real world experience with culinary arts courses at the local community college from master chef Steve Fernald.
“First you need to put together a team that works. If the team doesn’t work it shows in the food every time,” Branch stated in the release. “When people are part of a team that works the love is there and it’s in the food coming out.”
Branch has added Chilaquiles Quesadilla to the lunch menu and hascreated a proprietary steak burger in conjunction with Reno-based Ponderosa Meat Co.
“It’s about simplifying and bringing a food back that is just wholesome goodness,” he said.
