North Lake Tahoe is looking for volunteers to help with Ironman Lake Tahoe on Sunday.
Volunteers will help direct, provide environmental protection and more throughout the entire course, ensuring athletes and spectators alike have a safe and successful race, a press release stated. While competitors dive into Lake Tahoe, volunteers will ready changing tents for the biking portion. Clothing changes occur as swimmers transform to bikers along the lakeshore and pedal up to the town of Truckee, over Brockway Summit and loop around into Squaw Valley. Along the course, during final run up the Truckee River and back into Squaw Valley to the finish line, volunteers provide water, directions and more. Volunteers are also necessary at the beginning of each leg for smooth transitions.
Available volunteer positions include bike and gear handlers, crowd control, environmental services and directional guides. Interested volunteers are eligible for priority registration for Ironman Lake Tahoe, 2014, which opens Monday, Sept. 23 at 8 a.m. For more sign up information, contact volunteer director Sean Sweeney at firstname.lastname@example.org.
