Volunteers needed for Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day

The League to Save Lake Tahoe will host its 16th annual Forest Stewardship Day Saturday at Tahoe Paradise Park in Meyers.

The day will be filled with trail restoration projects, stream bank stabilization work and native garden planting. Food and beverages will be provided. Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome.

“We’re going to focus volunteer efforts on a few intense projects this year that will have a lasting impact,” League deputy director Jesse Patterson stated in a press release. “Some of these projects can take time to get established so we are going to make sure that we check back throughout the year to ensure their success.”

Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and long pants and bring a water bottle. Tools are provided, but volunteers who already have work gloves, hardhats, rakes, hand saws, and shovels are encouraged to bring them (no axes or chainsaws, please).

Volunteer work will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tahoe Paradise Park, 1011 E. San Bernardino Ave., in Meyers. To register, contact 530-541-5388 or events@keeptahoeblue.org.
