Heavenly, Kirkwood volunteers help revamp Bijou park

Heavenly Mountain and Kirkwood Mountain resorts held their fourth annual Vail Resorts Echo Day on Sept. 21.

This year, 312 volunteers worked to help revamp Bijou Community Park, a press release stated. Volunteers included resort employees, friends and family and they helped to build a family picnic area, paint signs and picnic tables, plant shrubs, clear bushes, redistribute wood chips, resurface the skatepark, rake the volleyball courts, pick up trash, and clean up the bicycle path on Al Tahoe Boulevard.

“Heavenly Mountain and Kirkwood Mountain Resorts provided an astonishing number of volunteers to work on Bijou Community Park. The park looks fantastic, and we couldn’t be happier,” city of South Lake Tahoe park supervisor Bruce Scholes stated in the release. “The hard work done by the volunteers has really helped enhance the qualities that make this a true community park for residents and visitors alike.”

Vail Resorts Echo Day is an annual company-wide volunteer day for Vail Resorts employees and their families. VR Echo Day hosted eight events for employees and their family and friends this past weekend, including projects on Tahoe’s North and South Shores, in Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, Wyoming and at Caribbean properties.
