Apprentice firefighter-paramedics sworn in

The Lake Valley Fire Protection District swore in two new apprentice firefighter-paramedics during its Nov. 14 Board of Directors meeting. The new employees, Conner Alexander and Dustin La Chapelle, were given the oath of office by Board President Dave Huber and welcomed to the District during the standing-room only meeting. The apprentices will assume full duties as working firefighter-paramedics.

Conner Alexander was born in South Lake Tahoe and graduated from the Lake Tahoe Basin Fire Academy in 2007. He worked for the Fallen Leaf Fire Department before joining the ranks at Lake Valley.

Dustin La Chapelle has been in Tahoe since he was 6 and attended the fire academy at Butte College. Prior to being hired by Lake Valley he served at Pioneer Fire Protection District as a captain.

“We are pleased to welcome both Conner and Dustin to our family at Lake Valley,” Fire Chief Gareth Harris stated in a press release. “The addition of two experienced and local individuals is an exciting event for the District.”
