Chabad launches Torah studies course

Statistics show that 47 percent of all New Year resolutions are self-improvement or education related. In that spirit, Chabad Jewish Center is launching a weekly Torah Studies class that will explore Judaism’s relevance in modern life. These classes are educational and the inspiration they provide will surely help for self-improvement.

This course is truly novel in the way it probes the depths of classic Jewish thought to address the issues we face in contemporary Jewish life. I am looking forward to the great discussions that these texts no doubt will generate. The dialogue among participants is often my favorite part of the class.

Classes will be held at the Chabad Jewish Center beginning Jan. 8 from 7:15-8:15 p.m., and will continue for 14 consecutive Wednesday evenings. Like all of Chabad’s courses, this latest adult education offering is designed for people at all levels of Jewish knowledge.

Some of the topics to be addressed are realizing your true potential, human struggle, and the power of a single action. The series will also include holiday themed classes for Purim and Passover.

Whether you consider yourself a Reform, Conservative, Orthodox or an unaffiliated Jew this class will bring meaning and insight which will enhance your holidays no matter where you attend services. We are so sure that people will enjoy it that we invite anyone interested to attend the first lesson free, with no obligation.

The fee for the entire course is $55, which includes the course textbook. Students are invited to call Chabad at 530-314-7677 to enroll or visit JewishTahoe.com.
