Cal Fire Amador-El Dorado Unit gets new chief

Amador-El Dorado Unit Deputy Chief Mike Kaslin was promoted to unit chief Dec. 23.

Kaslin has held a variety of other positions, including Division Chief for Growlersburg Camp and North Division Operations, Administrative Officer for AEU, Battalion Chief for the Cameron Park Fire Department, the Camino Emergency Command Center and Battalion Chief for Structure Fire Training at the Cal Fire Academy in Ione.

Kaslin first put on a uniform in 1982 when began his career as a paramedic, a press release stated. He also worked as a flight paramedic on a helicopter, a firefighter paramedic for the city of Salinas, and a primary emergency medical technician instructor for two community colleges. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and is a fully sworn peace officer. Kaslin has lived in El Dorado County since 1991.
