Fire chief: Reports of a hang-glider crash at Lake Tahoe 'unfounded'

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Reports of a hang-glider crash in the mountains on Lake Tahoe’s North Shore Wednesday were determined to be unfounded.

North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District Chief Mike Brown said several witnesses reported seeing “either a parasailer or hang-glider” crash above Sand Harbor shortly before noon.

Several crews for NTFPD, North Tahoe Fire Protection District and Nevada State Parks responded to the area of incident near the Flume Trail.

However, it was eventually determined the “reports were unfounded,” Brown said.

“There were hang-gliders flying around up there, and (witnesses) thought one might have gone down, but that was not the case,” he said.
