Kudos & Kindness: It was a great year for Zephyr Cove Ski Club

The 2013 ski year was a great year for the The Zephyr Cove Ski Club as we started the program with 107 skiers/boarders and ended with 104.

Without the partnership our organization would probably not exist because the rates would not be affordable to most families. The ZCSC started the season off with a $1,000 grant from Vail Resorts Echo. This grant gave us the opportunity to sponsor families that did not have the resources to enroll. Giving the children a social, physical and friendly activity to enjoy with friends is priceless. Heavenly continues to provide affordable rates to our members for tickets and clinical lessons. The Douglas County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) has funded our transportation costs for more than 50 years. Our transportation is provided by the Douglas County School District. Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department administers our transportation grant from the BOCC and the Memorandum Of Understanding with the school district for the use of the school buses.

Our partnership consists of Vail Resorts Echo, Heavenly, Douglas County Board of Commissioners, Parks and Recreation, School District and many parent volunteers. Putting all of this together with the volunteer parents that show up every week to help us get the children to the lesson area by 08:30, its all in a day’s work for the ZCSC. A big thank you to all who continue to help the ZCSC chaperones and trustees, making this a most successful year due to your partnership and participation.
