Eldorado National Forest appoints new supervisor

Laurence Crabtree will replace Kathy Hardy as the forest supervisor of the Eldorado National Forest on July 29.

Hardy retired from her position on June 14. Jayne Handley is serving as the interim acting forest supervisor until Crabtree takes over.

Crabtree currently works as the deputy forest supervisor of the Plumas National Forest, according to an Eldorado National Forest press release. He served as a district ranger in the Modoc National Forest and in two districts in Nevada.

Born in Lassen County, Crabtree graduated from the University of Idaho where he studied forest and entomology.

“I am pleased and humbled to be the Eldorado National Forest Supervisor,” Crabtree said. “In my new role I intend to be a part of the community and to ensure that the Eldorado continues to move forward with the challenges and opportunities that come from caring for the land and serving people.”
