Mike Lyle was proud to say he was a true Tahoe native, born and raised in South Lake Tahoe. Mike was a fun loving and well liked man. Back in school he liked football, wrestling and playing the trumpet in the band. Mike bought his first house in Tahoe at the age of 21 then married Laura in 1993 at the age of 24. Later he enjoyed snowmobile rides in the mountains with his buddies, dirt bike riding with his brother and two sons, taking his boat out on the lake with his family, wakeboarding, skiing, snowboarding, telling stories about his experiences and working on his motors. He was inquisitive and could fix anything on a home or motor. Much of his time was spent teaching his sons how to work on their snowmobiles and motorcycles and well as riding. Mike was always willing to help or lend an ear to his friends. He worked at Albertsons, formerly Lucky’s grocery for 20 years and was the night manager. After the store closed he worked in construction. He also ran his business, Lyle Maintenance and Chimney, and was liked and recommended by his clients. Mike was a family man and a great friend and will be missed by many people. His memories and lessons will last a lifetime.
He is survived by his wife Laura Lyle, sons Kevin 15 and Colby 12 and dog Lollipop, his father Lawrence W. Lyle, mother Karen A. Lyle, brother David Lyle and sister Robin Horn as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike was 45 years old.
A memorial for Mike will be held at the Sierra Community Church, 1165 Sierra Blvd., on Saturday the 29th at 1:00 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers a Mike Lyle Memorial Fund has been set up for his family. Donations can be made at any of the South Lake Tahoe El Dorado Savings branches.
