Sherrie Dee Miller-Meyer
Sherrie Dee Miller-Meyer of Stateline, NV passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 4th, 2014 while on vacation with her family in the Bahamas. Dee was a resident of Stateline, NV, where she lived with her husband of 9 years, and friend for a lifetime, Robert Scott Meyer.
Dee was born on July 25, 1946 in Great Bend, Kansas. She graduated from Mineral Wells High School, and in her early 20’s, she relocated to San Antonio, TX. In 1968, she married Jeffrey Burl Miller, her husband of 35 years (who predeceased her in 2003.) In 1977, following the birth of their daughter Regan, Dee and Jeff relocated to Atlanta, GA to begin a business in the swimming pool industry.
For many years, Dee and Jeff worked hand in hand in the industry, and subsequently relocated to Ellijay, GA. While in Ellijay, Dee was an active member of the Gilmer Art and Garden Societies, and was known for rescuing stray animals and taking them into her home. At one point, the number of animals had grown to close to a dozen – all shapes and sizes. She also expressed her creative side by painting and gardening.
Following Jeff’s death in 2003, Dee relocated to Stateline, NV and married Scott Meyer, a long-time friend of the family, on October 30, 2005.
Dee and Scott spent the last 10 years enjoying their retirement together as members of the Lake Tahoe Community. Dee enjoyed immensely her time spent pursuing philanthropic activities and as a member of theTahoe Art League and the South Tahoe Garden Club.She will be remembered fondly for her tireless commitment and time volunteering as a board member and congregant of Temple Bat Yam. She was a gifted artist and loved to spend her time painting and collecting whatever might make for a beautiful art project. She saw beauty and potential in everything and everyone she touched. She embraced life and lived it to the fullest.
Dee is survived by her husband, Scott Meyer of Lake Tahoe, NV; daughter and son-in-law, Regan and Scott Holroyd of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter, Jordan Holroyd; sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Billy Brassell of Grandberry, TX, as well as numerous other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Kathleen Hargett and Russell Leach.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 18th at 2:00 pm at Temple Bat Yam, 3260 Pioneer Trail in South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150.
