Michael “Mike” Crawford of South Lake Tahoe, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada, passed into eternal life on Saturday, June 21, 2014 in Santa Rosa.
Mike worked as a radio announcer in the Santa Rosa area at many different stations (KAFP, KHUM, KPLS) in the late 1950s and early ‘60s. Relocating to Salinas, Mike’s career path led him into the California Highway Patrol. He entered the Academy in 1972, and upon graduation was stationed in Central Los Angeles, Monterey/Salinas, South Lake Tahoe and South Sacramento before retiring in 2000. He met and married his wife of 34 years, JuAnna “Jo” Crawford while working at KTOM in Salinas.
Mike will be greatly missed by his family, friends and loved ones. He is survived by his wife JuAnna “Jo” Crawford, and a special kitty daughter, Darlington; sister Susan Hughes of Texas; brother-in-law Phil (Linda) Mansker of Charles City, Iowa; and sister-in-law Patricia (Drew) Estrada of Bellingham, Washington. He and Jo were visiting close/best friends, Walt and Kathy Clark and Al and Stella Siedentopf, in the Santa Rosa area at the time of his passing.
An active man with lots of hobbies, Mike loved all types of music, cooking, playing poker, rooting for the Giant’s and A’s, and NASCAR. He will be missed.
