Stephen (Steve) Aldridge
June 22, 1942 – May 11, 2014
A California native, Steve was born in Redding, grew up in Folsom, served in the US Navy and had a career as an electronics engineer at IBM/San Jose for 33 years. He moved to South Lake Tahoe upon his retirement in 1999.
He was a bright, strong, honest and honorable man with many talents. Always a gentleman, he never hesitated to say exactly what he thought and had many friends.
Among his interests and hobbies, he established and maintained an apple orchard in Mariposa County, raised bees, cattle and various critters in need. He also built several RC planes as well as a power boat. He restored and lovingly rebuilt a collection of classic cars which included a ’64 Corvette Stingray, a 1930 Ford Coupe and a 1930 Ford Model T pickup. He was multi-talented and artistic, designing and building beautiful furniture, cabinets and other objects d’art.
He married Omega (Meg), the love of his life and companion for over 52 years. They enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and traveling to various places in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, and to Europe. They shared a love of gardening and working together on a myriad of projects.
He is survived by his 3 brothers: Gary (Jesse) of Oxnard, California, John (Diana) of Jacksonville, Oregon, Dennis (Sue) of Mariposa, California and sister, Lorrie (Stan) of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. He was a member of a large family with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his life will be held at his home in South Lake Tahoe on July 10, 2014 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
