Geraldine (Geri) Carter DiPietro McKellep passed away Saturday, June 28th at the age of 88 years young. Preceding her in death are husbands, Paul DiPietro and Charles (Chuck) McKellep, her parents, Tom and Ruth Carter, sisters, Pauline Vaughan, Josephine Landa, Doris Ann Calahan and beloved daughters, Sheryl Morrison and Joyce Sanders.
Geri is survived by her daughter Tommie (Severin) Morrison, from South Lake Tahoe, California, her daughter Jeri DiPietro (Tony Kilbert), from Koloa, Hawaii, and her brother Harold G.(Lorraine) Carter, from Shreveport, Louisiana.
Geri was blessed with eight grandchildren, Mike Andrews, Pam Drouin, Kristin Morrison, Ezra Morrison, Eli Morrison, Marie Hathaway, Joe Hathaway and Curtis Sanders. She had eight great grandchildren, Milo, Nick, Allyson, Parker, Destiny, River, Hunter and Gauge, one great, great granddaughter, Jade (Mother Mandy), loved by nieces Pat and Cyndi Martsolf, Linda Dazey, Julie Clayland and friends Marti Kahler and James Shafer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Geri was born on April 17, 1926 in Naples, Texas, and raised in Bossier City Louisiana. Geri owned and operated DiPietro’s restaurant in San Rafael, California with her husband Paul. She also worked in property management for over 30 years. Geri excelled at being a mother, grandmother and an excellent homemaker.
She was a longtime resident in Sacramento after residing for many years in South Lake Tahoe. She enjoyed volunteering at the Mercy San Juan Hospital Gift Shop in Carmichael and Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe.
Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, traveling, being called “Granny” to her many grandchildren, and spending time with family and friends.
She lived a long and interesting life, experiencing many changes in her lifetime. Geri touched many people’s lives in her 88 years and will be greatly missed.
The family will host a “Service of Remembrance” for family and friends on Monday, July 7th at 1:00pm at Valley Memorial Park Chapel located at 650 Bugeia Lane in Novato, CA, where Geri will be laid to rest. Memorial reception to follow at Celia’s Mexican Restaurant in San Rafael.
