John “Woody” Dearwester
June 18, 1956 - June 22, 2014
John “Woody” Dearwester passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2014. He was laid to rest June 30th next to his loving mother Joyce in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Woody grew up in Finneytown, Ohio where he went to the University of Cincinnati, majoring in accounting and graduated in 1979. Shortly after, he moved to Lake Tahoe and immediately fell in love with the area.
He worked at Harrah’s in the Summit Restaurant where he learned to love the art of cooking, later moving to the pit and becoming a dealer and pit boss. Woody worked for Caesars where he toured the world on their cruise lines. He worked in Palm Springs, Phoenix and finally in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at the Hard Rock. His wish was to retire in Lake Tahoe.
Woody loved skiing, hiking and especially fishing. Blue Lakes was his favorite place to fish. He was also an avid sports fan and supported his Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.
He will be sorely missed by his father John, brothers, Jim, Mike (Lynn) and Tim, his favorite niece Reagan, his three nephews, Michael, Christopher and Christian.
Woody was blessed with great friendships his whole life and cared deeply for his best friends including all the “ole buddies” from Cincinnati, Diane Rawski , Ray and Debby Winters, Stacey McGuire and the countless friends he made during his career and his precious dog Maggie who he loved so much.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Goal Post Restaurant Thursday, July 24th from 4-7 p.m.
