Thelma L. Williams —1922 – 2014
Thelma went home to her great reward on Sunday, August 17, 2014. She was born in New Orleans, LA, raised in Chicago and moved to California in 1943 to marry her fiancé, John, as he trained to be a combat aviator in WW2. She remained in California for the rest of her life, moving to South Lake Tahoe in 2006 to live with her eldest son, Jeff, and his wife Karen. She is survived by her five sons and their wives, Jeff and Karen, Dana and Karen, Brian and Catherine, Glenn, and Evan and Candice, as well as 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and predeceased by one grandson, Chip, as well as her husband of 63 years, John Williams. She was laid to rest next to her husband at San Joaquin National Cemetery.
Thelma Williams had three primary missions for her life and ministry. First and foremost was to live her life in the absolute center of God’s will. Secondly, she wanted to love and care for her family, which grew to be quite large. And thirdly, she wanted to love and care for… everybody else, and to her that meant sharing the gospel and the love of Jesus Christ. Although not ordained in the formal sense, she was a Minister of God in every other way.
The family would like to offer their gratitude for the love and support from the community of South Lake Tahoe, and to Drs. Henning and Monika Mehrens, and the staff of Barton Skilled Nursing Facility.
