Daryl Cooper Hatfield
October 17, 1940 – August 17, 2016
One of the sweetest men God created left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, following a courageous 13 year battle with cancer. Never complaining, always with a smile.
Daryl was born October 17th, 1940, to Walter and Marjorie Hatfield in Kansas City, Kansas. Daryl attended the Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, MO. graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics. Daryl served in the United States Army for two years at the Army Cold Regions Lab on the campus of Dartmouth University in Hanover, New Hampshire. Upon his Honorable Discharge in 1971, Daryl was employed by the US Navy as an electronics engineer in the Weapons Instrumentation Division until his retirement at Pt. Mugu in 1994.
While working at Pt. Mugu Daryl met the love of his life, Sandy Kelm. They were married in 1996 at Valhalla on the shores of Lake Tahoe.
Daryl loved Lake Tahoe and in 1998 he and Sandy moved there to spend 18 years of fun, love and many blessings. Daryl loved his church family, Sierra Community Church, where he served as director of the coffee ministry for many years. He was baptized in the Upper Truckee River at the church picnic on September 18th, 2005.
Daryl and Sandy spent many winters in Pacific Grove, CA enjoying the ocean air and their church in that area. Some of their happiest times were spend on the Coast where they did everything together, just the way they wanted their life to be. They were best friends that shared a special love with each other and with their Lord. Daryl shared his first breath with his twin, David, and it was with him that he breathed his last. Daryl will be missed so terribly by his wife, Sandy, and his family and many friends.
Daryl was predeceased by his brother Bryan and his parents Walter and Marjorie Hatfield. Daryl is survived by his adoring wife, Sandy. Also by his brothers David, Howard and sister Pam. Sister-in-law Arlene Hatfield, and Kaye Williams (Durston)and brother-in-law, David Morris.
