Today is a very sad day. I lost my very good friend, my car ride buddy and companion. No, not lost really, but GOD came and took him to Heaven. He’ll love it there. Run and Play my friend.
Scooby was rescued from the Fallon Animal Shelter on Christmas Eve 2000. He was a Christmas gift that has been loved and enjoyed every day since.
Scooby was good boy, “who’s a good boy, you’re a good boy”. He loved going for morning “walkies” around our neighborhood and for car rides at night to Zephyr Cove where he would walk and swim in Lake Tahoe. He made friends easy as we walked. Small children would love to give him hugs when they found out his name was “Scooby”. He walked much of the Tahoe Rim Trail with my wife. He was truly a Tahoe Dog.
He was smart and fun and could look right into your soul with those big browns eyes of his. He’d bop you with his nose and give you a big kiss - right when you’d need one.
For several years he came to work with me and we car pooled together. When he wasn’t hanging out the window, he would quietly sit next to me and let me talk about my day.
He shared his home with four cats that will miss him as much as we will.
Scooby, thank you for giving us so many wonderful memories before you left this world. We’ll miss you and the way you would place your head on our legs at night when you slept next to us, ring the bell when you wanted a bone or find your collar and bring it to us when you wanted a walk.
I wish I could give you just one more big hug thanking you for 12 great years of wonderful friendship.
Goodbye my dear friend, I love you.
Every boy should be lucky enough to have two things in life: A Dog, and a beautiful wife willing to let you have one. I was lucky. I had both.
