Our dear friend Keene Douglas Busche born August 31, 1948 in Valley City, North Dakota to Earl & Elnere Busche, lost his short battle with cancer on April 18, 2013. Keene will be lovingly missed for his KEEN sense of humor while entertaining his friends with his true-life stories, as only he could tell so colorfully. After attending the University of Minnesota, he served with the Vista Volunteers in Kansas City, MO where he then came to live in South Lake some 40 years ago. Working for Tahoe Human Services as a counselor and most recently serving as a board member for Tahoe Turning Point.
A great supporter of local youth, he was also a women’s softball coach for many years.
Keene was a world traveler visiting Vietnam, Peru, South America, Thailand, New Zealand, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Australia, Philippines , Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong and Bali. Keene participated in the Hash House Harriers in the various countries he visited and in 1986 attended the Thailand Inter -Hash. Keene was a lover of music, attending the Music Festival in New Orleans for many years and making several long time friends there as well . He loved all sports, especially The Green Bay Packers, he also loved wine tasting, picnic’s, golf, dinner parties and most of all the beach. Keene will be missed by all the lives he has touched, and leaves behind two cats Kali and Bali. He is survived by a Niece Susie Heise & Nephew Steve Busche, and many other cousins. We love you Keene.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Keene on June 9th at 1 pm at Nevada Beach. Parking fee is $7. We will provide Hamburgers and Hot Dogs, but in true Keene style please bring a side dish to share.
