South Lake Tahoe police are looking for a customer who stopped at USA Gas Station Tuesday night. Police believe he may have been one of the last people to interact with the clerk who was shot, but the patron is not believed to be a suspect in the crime.
According to police, the clerk, Manpreet Singh, 27, was killed Tuesday night when an unidentified suspect walked into the gas station and shot him once in the upper torso. During the course of the investigation, detectives have looked at multiple items of evidence, including surveillance video from the station’s security cameras. Police have discovered another man on the video who they hope to identify with help from the public, according to a press release. Because he was among the last patrons to interact with the clerk before the assailant committed the murder, detectives believe he may possibly have seen or witnessed something which could provide valuable investigative information, the release stated.
The unidentified patron appears to be Caucasian, with a couple days’ beard growth, tattoos on both forearms, a Spitfire flat bill ball cap, Metal Mulisha T-shirt and black pants, police said. The man was reportedly driving a dark-colored early 1990s Ford single cab pick-up truck. The cab of the truck has a rear sliding window, police said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call SLTPD at 530-542-6100 or Secret Witness at 530-541-6800. There is a $6,000 reward from Secret Witness for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
