After the Reno Aces suffered it’s first sweep of the season in Nashville, the team traveled to Memphis for a series against the Redbirds and came away with three of four games.
Reno won the first two games in Memphis 4-3 and lost the third game 7-2. In the series finale Monday night, Reno came away with the 3-1 win.
Andy Marte’s 12th homer of the season proved to be the winning run in the seventh inning.
The Aces took a 1-0 lead in the third when Alfredo Marte drew a bases-loaded walk scoring Tyler Bortnick.
The Redbird’s tied it in the sixth, but Andy Marte’s leadoff solo blast to centerfield quickly followed to give Reno a 2-1 lead.
Reno added one more in the eighth when Alfredo Marte doubled to leftfield scoring Mike Freeman.
Eric Brooks got the start for Reno in his Triple-A debut. He went four innings allowing just one hit and one walk. Six total Aces pitchers combined for the win including Jess Todd who earned his third win of the season moving to 3-1.
Matt Stites pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning recording his team leading 12th save of the season. Jake Barrett also made his Triple-A debut pitching in the eighth allowing one hit, one walk and one strikeout.
Reno sits in second place in the Pacific Coast League Pacific North with a 40-31 record just one game behind the Sacramento Rivercats.
The Aces return for an eight-game home stand starting with a four-game series against the Oklahoma City RedHawks that began Tuesday night and continues through Friday.
