SPARKS, Nev. — The South Tahoe cheer and dance teams spent the first part of its Valentine’s Day at Sparks High for the annual Rail City Cheer and Dance Invitational. The Vikings competed against host Sparks, Wooster, Spanish Springs, North Valleys, Fallon, Galena, Damonte Ranch, and Pershing County.

South Tahoe cheer took home first place for the second time during competition season, and added to that the distinction of grand champions. The Vikings earned grand champion by finishing with the most overall points at the competition.

The Vikings also had two stunt pods compete, with stunt pod No. 2 taking home first place. The “ASG” stunt pod that included senior Kim Marquez, junior Kim Roque, senior Vanessa Ruiz, senior Brandy Kent and junior Susan Rush tied with the coed stunt pod from Sparks as top stunters of the day.

In its first competition of the season, STHS dance and JV cheer each took home second-place trophies. It was an amazing morning that led to a quick and lively bus ride home so they could cheer for the South Tahoe boys basketball game in their last home game of the season.
