South Tahoe JV baseball sweeps Sparks in doubleheader

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — The South Tahoe junior varsity baseball team rolled to a pair of home victories last Saturday to improve to 4-1 in Div. I-A Northern League play. The Vikings beat visiting Sparks 13-4 and 13-0 in a doubleheader at Todd Fields.

South Tahoe (6-3, 4-1 I-A Northern) downed the Railroaders 13-4 in six innings in the first game of the doubleheader. Andru Aquino threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts in the win, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while walking one — he also went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Aquino was one of four Vikings to record two hits in game one. Justin Ruger went 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a run while Cameron Milam and Cameron McCarthy each finished 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs.



In the second game, South Tahoe delivered a 13-0 victory over Sparks in five innings. The shutout was the Vikings’ first of the season — Chris Pfister pitched a complete game, striking out seven while scattering a hit and two walks to go along with a hit and RBI at the plate.

Offensively for the Vikings in game two, Milam led the way with a team-high three hits — he finished 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs. Ruger finished 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs while Tristan Deatherage and McCarthy each had a hit, RBI and run.
