Love, and plenty of sun, is in the air at Lake Tahoe this weekend. Some unseasonably warm weather will keep everything on the table this Valentine’s Day. Whether your heart is on the slopes, in the clouds or at the black jack table, here are a couple options for the long weekend at Lake Tahoe:

Emerald Bay

If you’re new to the area, this is a must see. Looking out over Emerald Bay is the quintessential view of Lake Tahoe. It’s one that never gets old, even for longtime residents. Emerald Bay is located on State Route 89, about 9 miles northwest of its intersection with U.S. Highway 50.

Lakeview Commons

One of the most convenient places to see the lake at the South Shore, Lakeview Commons features comfortable terraced seating looking over Lake Tahoe’s blue expanse right in the middle of town. Water levels are still low, so this spot also makes for a great place to walk along the shoreline and soak in the views. Lakeview Commons is located at the corner of Lakeview Avenue and U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe.

Fallen Leaf Lake

The Fallen Leaf Lake area provides some of the most scenic views at the South Shore, which has more than its fair share. Fallen Leaf is an easy snowshoe or cross-country ski from State Route 89, just west of Camp Richardson. Some parking restrictions apply and a SNO-PARK permit is required at Taylor Creek.

DINE On The view

Numerous restaurants at the South Shore offer views of Lake Tahoe with your meal. Restaurants like the Chart House, 19 Kitchen & Bar at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe and Friday’s Station at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe offer bird’s-eye views of the lake, while restaurants like Riva Grill, the Beacon Bar & Grill and the Boathouse on the Pier offer lakefront seating on Valentine’s Day. Several are offering special prix-fixe menus for the holiday. Tables at these eateries will be in high demand, especially around sunset, so it’s best to get your reservations in as soon as possible.

Go for a cruise

One of Lake Tahoe’s two paddle-wheelers, the M.S. Dixie II, will host a special Valentine’s Day Dinner Cruise at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14. The cruise departs from Zephyr Cove Resort and includes a four-course meal capped off with chocolate-dipped strawberries for dessert. Tickets are $99 per adult. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 530-543-6191. More information can be found at http://www.zephyrcove.com.

Party With Arty

Arty the Party has been entertaining crowds for years at the South Shore, rocking the weekends at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. He’ll play a special Valentine’s Day show at Stateline’s Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger starting at 9 p.m. Arty plays R&B, disco, dance, Top 40 and soul. More information is available at http://www.luckybeaver.com.

ONE Love

If you’re looking for some irie vibes to complete your Valentine’s Day weekend, Pato Banton will bring his long career in reggae to South Lake Tahoe’s Whiskey Dick’s Saloon. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show. More information is available at http://www.ticketweb.com.
