Lucas lands on podium
Kirkwood rider Casey Lucas couldn’t seem to break fourth place all season on the Freeride World Tour. She had one last chance to claim a podium position at the final stop Saturday, and Lucas delivered.
Lucas rode a smooth line that included a massive jump to post a third-place score of 60.0 points in Fieberbrunn Pillerseetal, Austria.
The Mouthon sisters of France took the top spots of the podium Saturday. Elodie Mouthon placed first with a score of score of 70.0, and her sister Anouck Mouthon took a completely different line choice for second place, scoring 62.67 points.
Hight takes silver at X Games Tignes
TIGNES, France – Despite the falling snow, Kelly Clark took her 62nd podium and the gold medal at the X Games Tignes women’s halfpipe on Wednesday. Elena Hight, of South Lake Tahoe, rode away with the silver and 16-year-old rookie Arielle Gold, of Steamboat Springs, Colo., landed on the podium with bronze.
Clark has now won double X Games gold along with her win in Aspen in February.
Hight’s silver is her fourth X Games medal and third silver. Her run consisted of a method, frontside 720 Japan-grab, cab 720, backside 900 mute- grab.
“The wind and the snow were definitely a factor and I am just happy that I put down a run. I am so happy and I am stoked to end my season on a good note,” Hight said. “I didn’t do the run I wanted to do with conditions like this. Just to be able to land a run clean—and I was able to land a front 9, which I haven’t done all season in a contest. So that feels good.”
Hannah Teter, of Sierra-at-Tahoe, just missed the podium, finishing fourth.
